Whenever I feel under the weather, I run to the nearest health food store and get what looks like a disgusting concoction—a fresh squeezed vegetable drink made of cucumbers, celery, spinach, beets, carrots, ginger and tons of garlic.

Drinking that concoction isn’t always a pleasant experience, especially with all the additional ginger and garlic I usually request. But after the stomach cramping subsides and I have chewed half a pack of gum to overcome my horrible breath, I feel great!

So today, inspired by both Katie Conneally’s post about her juice cleanse and the chorus of sneezes and coughs throughout my office, I convinced a few colleagues of mine to head across the street to a new food truck that sells fresh-squeezed vegetable and fruit drinks. While at first we were a little disturbed by the photos of women in bikinis that cover the top portion of the truck (good marketing, btw! I instantly thought that I could look like them if I drank these juices every day!), my colleagues and I thoroughly enjoyed the drinks we ordered off the extensive menu. I had my usual vegetable drink – minus the garlic, as I had a few meetings at which I didn’t want to offend my colleagues!; Katie had the “Spitzi-Up” with celery, cucumber, spinach and parsley; Abby had the “Cleansing Tonic” with carrots, beets, apples and ginger (note to self: careful drinking the beet drinks, since it stains everything including your teeth!) and Camille had a papaya and veggie drink with additional protein and spirulina shots.

We must have looked a little silly, bundled up and shivering on the corner of Broadway, sipping a delicious rainbow of juices, but we all enjoyed our little break for healthy drinking.

So, the next time you hear a colleague sneeze, take a few minutes to get offline and outside and run to your nearest health food store to get yourself a fresh-squeezed veggie drink!
