Mother’s Day — May 12 — is less than a month away. We know you want to be prepared, so we worked with author Gretchen Rubin to put together five giveaway packages moms will love. Based on her goal in Happier at Home to appreciate and remember the happiness in her life as a mother, Rubin put together this ingeniously simple journal that gives room to write just one sentence a day for five years—completely doable for even the busiest moms. Here’s more about it from Rubin’s introduction to the journal:
“Each time of life has its own kind of love,” wrote Tolstoy, and each time of life has its own kind of happiness. In the rush of everyday existence, however, it’s easy for the small, sweet moments to be forgotten. I think, “I’ll never forget that funny thing my daughter said,” but I will, I will.
To help me remember these days, I decided to keep a one-sentence journal. I knew I’d never be able to write several daily pages in a proper journal, but I could write one sentence each night. And, I’ve found, one sentence is enough to hold on to the memories of the past. A one-sentence journal is satisfying because it’s manageable; it gives a feeling of accomplishment; and it helps me reflect on and recall the experiences of parenthood.
