The first rule I’m working to make a part of my daily life is #6: Eat apples and berries every single day. Full of vitamins and micronutrients, Harper recommends eating these fruits daily to help speed and maintain metabolism and keep bad cholesterol under control.
I started out eating apples and berries raw and all by themselves as snacks, but that got old pretty quickly. I had to get creative to keep up the habit. I added strawberries to a kale salad with grape tomatoes and goat cheese. I mixed blueberries into my morning yogurt with a bit of granola. I snacked on apples and peanut butter. I put dried cranberries into oatmeal or mixed them with almonds and sunflower seeds. I also made a really delicious sweet potato, carrot, red lentil, and apple soup. I’m now into my second berry-eating week, and it’s already starting to feel like a habit that I’m going to keep up.
So go to it! Try to find creative ways of including apples and berries in your diet this week. If you need a jumping off point, check out Bob’s video below where he shows how to make a quick berry smoothie that will help you take the first step toward following Skinny Rule #6.
