As part of “Inspiration Month” on Books for Better Living, we’re helping raise money for a truly inspiring cause: READ Global’s library-building efforts in rural Asia. Lisa Napoli, author of Radio Shangri-La: What I Discovered on My Accidental Journey to the Happiest Kingdom on Earth, introduced us to this 20-year-old organization, which uses literacy and knowledge to help alleviate poverty.
How You Can Help
Simply like Books for Better Living on Facebook and we will donate $1 to READ Global on your behalf through Saturday, May 12. Already a fan? Thanks for the support! Help us raise more by spreading the word to your friends. Our goal is to raise $1,500, which Random House will match dollar-for-dollar, for a grand total of $3,000.*
More About READ Global
To date, READ Global has provided more than 260,000 books to centers that serve 125 villages worldwide, bringing education opportunities to a whooping 1.8 million people! But READ Global’s efforts go beyond literacy. Their centers are vehicles for social and economic transformation delivered through programs in early childhood development, women’s empowerment and livelihood skills. Each center is self-sustaining and community-owned, which means that once they’re up and running, they aren’t dependent on foreign aid to keep them going.
