Go To It! Become a Powerful Communicator

We’ve written a lot this week about our first online summit, Books for Better Living Live. In case you missed yesterday’s lesson from Niurka, we compiled a list of her communication tips that you can use to communicate with confidence and clarity.

We are always communicating—with our thoughts, gestures, body language and words. Niurka’s new book, Supreme Influence, teaches people how to use language to activate brilliance. Niurka calls this brilliance “living in your Supreme Influence” to find power and strength from within our own uniqueness. When you communicate from a strong, confident presence, you can create your own destiny. Here are three of Niurka’s communication tips:

1. Powerful communication begins with your thoughts. The first step to powerful communication begins with your thoughts. Niurka describes that how you think about yourself determines what you will communicate to the world. Whatever you declare after the words I am, that is what you create, attract and become, particularly when you speak with conviction. Your definition of I am shapes how you see yourself, how others see you and what’s possible for you. Niurka advises: Be sure that when you say the words I am that you authentically mean what you say afterward. Choose words that call forth the best in you.

2. Honor the other person’s map of the world. Ask questions. The second step to powerful communication is simple: ask questions. When speaking to a friend, colleague, co-worker or boss, take a moment to pause and ask questions—communicate from a point of inquiry. Asking questions will help you assess situations and make decisions with clarity. Used intelligently, questions pave the way for your dreams to become real. The most empowering questions begin with how, what or who. When you ask a question, you want it to create momentum toward where you want to go.

3. Choose words wisely. There are limitless ways to describe the human experience. The words we choose reveal our opinions, values, attitudes and worldview. Niurka emphasizes that we must learn how to wield our language gracefully and masterfully. We can create as we speak by choosing words that reflect a sense of purpose and power. Create the results you want in your mind, then step into those results with the words you choose.
