Jillian Michaels’ Beach Body Tips

How many women stress about how they’ll look at the beach? The answer is, too many! We asked superstar trainer and health and wellness expert Jillian Michaels her advice on this. You may be surprised what she had to say:

“There’s not a woman I know, no matter how beautiful she is, both inside and out, who doesn’t get self-conscious and worried about shedding her clothes in public. A day at the beach is no friggin’ day at the beach. Instead, it becomes just another opportunity for self-hate and confidence beatings.

“Forget that crap! Let it go for the day. Enjoy the sun, enjoy your friends and family and kids…let yourself live, be and breathe.”

We couldn’t agree more.

When it comes to celebrating the holiday weekend, Michaels has more good advice in her book Slim for Life: My Insider Secrets to Simple, Fast, and Lasting Weight Loss. Rather than drinking every day of long weekend, “Pick a night, make it your wild one, and have up to two drinks,” she writes. Good choices include red wine and dark beer, which are both moderate on calories and loaded with antioxidants. If you’d prefer liquor, stick to clear alcohols, and drink it straight, on the rocks or with calorie-free mixers.

Here’s a recipe from the book for one of your “wild nights.” Happy Independence Day!

2 ounces white rum
12 mint leaves muddled in a glass
1 teaspoon Truvia sweetener
1 ounce fresh lime juice
3 ounces club soda

Mix all ingredients with ice, and serve in a highball glass.
