Plan Ahead… Recipes from The Hungover Cookbook

From the soothing and comforting food needed for those hangovers that P.G. Wodehouse called “The Sewing Machine,” to the clean and healthy foods recommended for curing “The Gremlin Boogie” of hangovers, Milton Crawford offers recipes to suit every hangover you might have on New Year’s Day in The Hungoevr Coobkook.

Below is just one of many recipes that will help tomorrow.

The Elvis Presley Peanut Butter, Banana and Bacon Sandwich

4 thick slices good quality fresh white bread
2 tbsp crunchy peanut butter
1 banana, mashed with the back of a fork
1 tbsp honey
8 slices free-range streaky bacon
butter, for frying (optional)

Thickly spread each slice of bread with the peanut butter. Cover two slices with the mashed banana and drizzle with honey.
Grill the bacon until crispy then place on top of the banana, dividing it between the two slices of bread. Top each sandwich with a second slice of bread.
For extra calorific value (and authenticity), carefully fry each sandwich in butter.
