As a kid, I literally skipped recess in order to go to honors math; and while all the other kids were swimming in the pool, I was engineering fully functioning windmills out of K’Nex. Being the only 6-year-old with a full set of braces and glasses, I understood that my place on the social totem pole was under the category of geek.
To this day, I love anything that has to do with time travel, string theory or aliens (lately, I have been keeping track of the Higgs boson). It wasn’t until recently, though, that I learned there was a holiday that had my name written all over it! Tomorrow, for those of you who don’t know, is Embrace Your Geekness Day. To celebrate I have selected five of my favorite pop-culture geek quotes from the book Geek Wisdom—a collection of essays for geeks written by geeks. Geek Wisdom is full of entertaining interpretations of classic pop culture quotes that have made the world we geeks live in a better and more bearable place. So read up and be inspired to embrace your true personality, no matter how geeky it may be.
